Description:
Originally built as Illinois Central 4-6-2 Pacific #1085 by ALCo-Brooks in January of 1912, it was rebuilt and renumbered in January of 1943 as IC #2039. The loco lasted until being scrapped in July of 1955 however this photo was dated 9/25/1955 and showing it in working condition. The discrepancy could be the date marking on the photo or the ALCo records compiled by Weber. I lean toward the photo being mismarked. Rebuilt specs - 61" drivers, 215 psi boiler pressure, 25x26" cylinders, engine weight of 248,733 lb, tractive effort of 48,683 lb. No photographer listed.
