SB Monon freight crosses the former Nickel Plate at State Line Tower. One of eight U23Bs delivered to Monon in 1970, the 601 would later become L&N 2700, CSXT 3230. Monon actually wanted more C420s, but Alco had ceased locomotive production in 1969. Date of photo approximate.
